You could be right. Although I think the audience for this film selects itself; it’s too soft, humanisitic and family-focused to entice your traditional “serial killer” type to even consider watching it in the first place. If that kind of effect ever materializes, I’d argue it would happen more with “gangster” films, which appeal to people’s taste for violence while maybe relying on — at least superficially — “black” tropes and stereotypes.
