About
Televisual (RSS) explores film, television and online video, from YouTube vlogs and original web series to independent film and scripted television. Why? Because as media converge, so follows visual culture, meaning we all must be polyglots. I’m a journalist-turned-academic enticed by what’s new and visual — be it celebrity or race, politics or sexuality.
Televisual has been linked to by The New York Times, NPR, The Atlantic, Gawker, Queerty, AfterEllen, Racialicious, among other publications.

I’m a doctoral student in communication at the Annenberg School at the University of Pennsylvania. I research visual culture — include web shows, vlogging, film and television – write freelance articles, and occasionally delve into other visual and curatorial projects. I have been published in Newsweek, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, BusinessWeek, The Root, the journals First Monday, Cinema Journal and Communication, Culture and Critique and contribute film and TV reviews and pop culture commentary to the websites Splice Today and Ronebreak. I ran the small-but-proud Film@Perelman program and lectured on film at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I occasionally film small video projects.
